As a child, Lani Coles fell in love with the world of books and the magic of reading. She never looked back.
Now, working as a children’s librarian, Lani has a great excuse to spend all her time reading, dreaming of, and talking about books.
Lani was born and (kind-of) grew up in beautiful New Zealand, and now lives on the sunny Central Coast of Australia with her husband Josh and their two dogs, Bear and Biscuit. As an undergraduate, Lani studied English and Creative Writing at the University of Newcastle. Ever the studious bookworm, she was selected for the Faculty Commendation List in 2016 and 2017, and is currently working on her Masters degree.
When it comes to writing for children, Lani’s stories focus on highlighting the complexity and importance of having courage and finding your place in the world, especially when you feel like you don’t quite fit in. She also writes about dogs. A lot. And sometimes, she dares to be a little funny.
When she’s not writing, reading, or drinking peppermint tea, Lani can be found racing down the sand dunes with her dogs, or snacking on super sour lollies at home with Josh.
